Cambridge graduate and sometime baker Laura Madeleine used her passion for sweet treats as inspiration for her debut novel The Confectioner's Tale.

Formerly the resident cake maker at successful (but now defunct) blog Domestic Sluttery, Madeleine still posts regular recipes on her own website but is set to make a bigger name for herself as a novelist when her bittersweet Parisian romance comes out this spring. The Bristol-based writer is going head to head with her similarly literary older sister Lucy Hounsom, whose own debut fantasy trilogy launches on the same day in April.
